How Miles Conquered Shoulder Pain & Returned to the Wall,
Water, and Leichhardt Oval
At 31, Miles loves to stay active, whether outdoor rock climbing, ocean swimming, or getting his claws up at Leichhardt Oval for Wests Tigers matches. But when ongoing shoulder pain started getting in the way, he reached out to Stay Active Exercise Physiology for an in-home assessment.
During his initial assessment, Exercise Physiologist Tom assessed Miles’ movement patterns. He identified that poor serratus anterior activation and a lack of rotator cuff strength were causing shoulder instability and excessive pain during his overhead sports and pain during his daily activities.
To get Miles moving comfortably again, Tom put together a practical, home-based program tailored to his goals:
● Targeted Strengthening: Exercises focused on activating his serratus anterior and building rotator cuff strength.
● Sport-Specific Warm-Ups: Mobility routines to prime his shoulders before climbing and swimming.
● Guided Progression: In-home coaching to safely build his strength and refine his technique.
Miles put in the work, and the payoff was huge. By rebuilding his shoulder stability and sticking to his warm-ups, he’s officially back on the wall, in the ocean, and cheering on the Tigers, completely pain-free.
